The Importance of Having a Concept Prior to the Session

Your Senior Picture Concept and Why you need one.

Having a concept prior to a photoshoot is important because it helps to guide the creative direction of the shoot and ensures that all of us are working towards the same goal. A concept can serve as a roadmap for the shoot, providing a clear vision for the final images, and it can be used to inform decisions about the clothing, makeup, hair, lighting, and location. It is how we make it about you and your personality.

A senior portrait concept can also help to create a sense of cohesion and consistency in the images, making them more visually appealing and memorable. It can also be used to communicate a specific message or story, making the images more engaging, personalized to you and impactful.

Having a concept also helps to ensure that the shoot is executed in a timely and efficient manner, as all members of the team will know what is expected of them and what needs to be accomplished.

Additionally, having a concept prior to the shoot can also help to secure your confidence and ensure that the final images align with your vision and expectations.

Let's look at a real client concept and finished product.

Here you will see Paige's boards she pulled on pinterest. This set the tone of the portrait session and from there I was able to scout locations that matched her concept as closely as possible.

Pulling images that are a reflection of you not only makes the image beautiful, but it makes them matter. Paige is a musician. After college she wants to become a music producer. Therefore it was important for us to create this ultimate vision as part of your senior portrait experience.

Here Are the Results.

Be Unique. Don't copy anyone else's idea.

Being unique can be important for a variety of reasons. For high school seniors, being unique can help them stand out and be recognized for their individuality and talents in a sea of people. It can also give them a sense of self-identity and self-worth. Being unique can also foster creativity and innovation and create a path to reach your ultimate goals.
